Partners

Building Change Together

No single organization can address the environmental challenges facing urban communities alone. TerraFuture's impact is built on a network of partnerships with community organizations, municipal governments, corporate sponsors, and university research collaborators who share our commitment to evidence-based, community-centered environmental action.

We currently partner with 47 community organizations, four municipal governments, 12 corporate sponsors, and six university research programs. These partnerships bring technical expertise, funding, political support, research capacity, and community reach that extend TerraFuture's impact far beyond what we could achieve independently.

Community Organizations

TerraFuture works alongside 47 neighborhood associations, civic groups, faith communities, and social service organizations across four districts. These partners are the connective tissue between TerraFuture's programs and the residents we serve. They identify community priorities, host events, recruit volunteers, and provide the local trust that makes our work possible.

Key community partners include the Eastside Neighborhood Alliance, North District Civic Association, Riverside Community Development Corporation, Greenway Residents Council, and the Interfaith Environmental Justice Network. Each partnership is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes shared goals, mutual responsibilities, and regular check-in schedules.

We also maintain partnerships with organizations serving specific populations, including senior centers, immigrant services agencies, disability advocacy groups, and youth development programs, ensuring that our environmental work reaches residents who are often excluded from conventional outreach.

Municipal Partnerships

TerraFuture maintains formal partnerships with four city governments, collaborating on environmental monitoring, policy development, green infrastructure planning, and community engagement. Municipal partnerships provide access to public data, land for community gardens and solar installations, and platforms for presenting community-gathered evidence to elected officials and agency staff.

Current municipal collaborations include the city's heat resilience planning committee, the regional stormwater management task force, the municipal renewable energy procurement advisory group, and the interagency environmental justice working group. In each case, TerraFuture brings community data and resident perspectives to processes that have historically been driven by technical staff and consultants.

Corporate Sponsors

TerraFuture partners with 12 corporate sponsors whose financial support and in-kind contributions sustain our programs. Corporate partnerships are governed by TerraFuture's sponsorship ethics policy, which requires that sponsors demonstrate a genuine commitment to environmental progress and prohibits partnerships with companies whose core business activities conflict with our mission.

Current corporate sponsors contribute to specific program areas including clean energy installations, garden infrastructure, youth education materials, and community events. All corporate sponsorships are disclosed publicly in our annual report, and sponsor logos appear on our website with clear identification as financial supporters.

We welcome conversations with companies interested in supporting community-level environmental work. Sponsorship inquiries can be directed to partnerships@terrafuture.org.

University Research Collaborations

Rigorous research strengthens every aspect of TerraFuture's work. We maintain active research collaborations with six universities, spanning environmental science, public health, urban planning, data science, and policy analysis.

Current research projects include a longitudinal study of air quality impacts from community greening interventions, an analysis of heat island mitigation strategies in low-income neighborhoods, an evaluation of community solar cooperative models and their effects on energy affordability, and a biodiversity monitoring program tracking pollinator populations across our garden network.

University partnerships also create opportunities for graduate students to conduct fieldwork with TerraFuture communities and for TerraFuture staff to access analytical tools, peer review, and publication channels that validate our data and extend its reach.
