About

The TerraFuture Story

TerraFuture was founded in 2019 by a small group of environmental scientists, community organizers, and data analysts who shared a conviction: that meaningful environmental progress requires both rigorous data and deep community engagement. Too often, environmental initiatives are designed from the top down, relying on distant expertise and ignoring the lived experience of the people most affected by pollution, heat, and climate vulnerability.

TerraFuture was built to bridge that gap. We bring data transparency, scientific rigor, and grassroots organizing together in a single organization, working directly with neighborhoods to create environmental change that is measurable, equitable, and lasting.

What began as a pilot project in three neighborhoods in the North District has grown into a network spanning 47 neighborhoods across four districts, with programs reaching over 12,000 residents, 18,500 trees planted, 2.4 MW of community solar installed, and 4,280 metric tons of CO2 reduced.
